Barbeque Recipes

Spring is the season where barbecuing begins. It is a time when family and friends can get together and socialize in back yards across America.

Millions of Americans use their grills to create incredible food that is extremely hot and spicy. For many people, taking a bite of beef or pork that bites back is what barbecues are all about.

Although barbecues are all about grilling meat, side dishes are just as important. People who love to grill are usually pretty inventive when it comes creating barbeque recipes for side dishes. One such invention is the barbecued baked sweet potato.

All you have to do to cook it is make a hole in one end and fill it with your favorite chili. Wrap it up and grill it until it is soft. You can also do this with a white potato, however the sweet version will absorb some of the heat from the chili.

Another side dish that is very tasty begins with a large piece of foil. After you spray it with non-stick spray, place sliced mushrooms and crush garlic in it. Wrap it up and grill it for a few minutes. This is a great side dish when you serve it with thickly sliced toast or bread.

Grilling takes a special talent, and those who have mastered it know that once the grill is ignited, you do not leave it for any reason. The griller must stay by the grill to insure that the food does not burn or in case of flare-ups. It is the responsibility of the griller to insure that all goes well with the food.

Although beef, pork and hot dogs define what a barbeque is, many people enjoy a perfectly grilled sausage from time to time. A great barbeque recipe for sausage is to marinade it in brown mustard and sugar. This gives the sausage a new and exciting taste that all will love.

One of the most used condiments at a barbeque is the barbeque sauce itself. Whether you buy pre-made bottled sauce or make your own, it will be the most used condiment on the table.

It is not very difficult to make barbeque sauce, and homemade is better then any store bought brand. Many people prefer to use their own barbeque recipes when they make their sauce.

Simply sauté onions peppers and garlic until golden brown. Add two cups of ketchup, a quarter of a cup of both soy sauce and honey and simmer for a couple of hours. You can add whatever spices you like. Strain out all of the vegetables and cool. You can use decorative containers to place on your table. It is sure to please everyone.
